Jean Magliore, a thirteen-year-old from New Orleans who spouts French phrases, joins with his sister Constance, later turned into a cat by Tia Dalma. Tumen, a Mayan sold into slavery by pirates, also joins. They face Captain Torrents, a vicious pirate with storm control, and Left Foot Louis, who kidnapped Arabella's mother and sought the Sword of Cortés.
